# Whakapapa

> Whakapapa is a ski area operated by Whakapapa Holdings 2024 Ltd, located on the slopes of Mt Ruapehu in New Zealand's North Island.

Whakapapa operates a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that external LLMs can connect to for real-time information about the ski area.

Available MCP tools:
- `get_snow_report`: Get the latest snow conditions, lift and trail status, weather, forecast, and facility hours for Whakapapa. Call this for any question about current snow, weather, conditions, open lifts, open trails, road status, or facility status. (Input: none)
- `search_products`: Search for products and passes available at Whakapapa (e.g. season passes, lift passes, rentals, lessons). (Input: keyword)
- `get_product_prices`: Get current pricing for a specific product by its ID. (Input: productId)
- `search_knowledge_base`: Search the Whakapapa help centre knowledge base for articles on any topic. (Input: query)
- `get_knowledge_base_article`: Fetch the full content of a knowledge base article by its ID. (Input: articleId)
- `get_website_page_content`: Search Whakapapa website pages for content relevant to a query. (Input: query)
- `get_terrain_features`: Get descriptions and information about terrain features like lifts and trails at Whakapapa. (Input: none)
- `get_live_ops`: Get today's live operations messages from the Whakapapa operations team. (Input: none)

Recommended usage for LLMs:
- For general questions (passes, facilities, policies, conditions): Call `get_snow_report` for latest conditions and status, `get_live_ops` for on-the-ground updates, `search_knowledge_base` and `get_knowledge_base_article` for detailed articles, `get_website_page_content` for website context, and `get_terrain_features` for lift/trail details. Base answers only on tool results.
- For pricing questions: Call `search_products` with keyword, then `get_product_prices` for each product ID returned, presenting all price tiers.
- Out of scope: These tools do not cover accommodation bookings, transport to the mountain, or Tūroa ski area.
